VAN PELL, COLLEEN
Mrs. VanPell
Welcome to Central Elementary School!
August 2001, I joined the Wall Township Public Schools Community. Since then, I have taught at all elementary grade levels, K - 5 in my 24 years at Central Elementary School. In total, I have been teaching for 25 years.
I am passionate about teaching. I love math. I love helping students to "get it". Using hands on materials helps students to "get it". Math is part of our daily lives. Helping kids understand and manipulate numbers helps kids to love math. I also love teaching history. Reading about The American Revolution is a great way to get kids excited about history. When I was a child, I recall touring Boston with my family and walking along the streets where Paul Revere and Ben Franklin lived as children. Reading about our founding fathers makes one think about the impact Each of us has on future generations. Each year, I teach a combination of subjects at one or more grade levels. Generally, I teach students ELA, Math, and Science / Social Studies.
As a special educator, I will look at the curriculum and determine appropriate modifications and / or accommodations a student may need to meet with success. If you need to reach me, you may email me or call the school.
Hobbies: skiing, sailing, reading (book club), biking, swimming, singing with the church choir
Education: Bachelor of Science - Bentley University (1990), Special Education Certification - Montclair State University (2000), Masters in Education - Montclair State University (2001)
